Though English Lit class do not really cross worlds with the SMS/text world, and neither do spelling lessons -- I'm pretty sure. Because if it does, then every texter gets a big red F mark on their grade reports. Never really have I cared with such stuff until the day I got confused with the spelling of 'embarrassing'. In SMS-lingo, it's 'embarcng'. Or if you get a tad too lazy pushing the buttons, you get 'mbarcn'. So yup, in the exchange of SMS world, people get lazier, even dare to make their grammars incorrectly put - just to shorten everything up and be the invisible champion of the Fastest Texter. And of course, I admit too, I am guilty of that being. I am not new to that. I can even know what type of person is he/she by the way he/she sends SMS. Using the accent U with a horizontal : as a means of an ear-to-ear smile is one, instead of the customary :-). I have quite distinguished a fine line between boys and men with it. I'm really a keen observer of intricate details (which is why i presumably disgust myself at times 'coz i even take time to know really itsy-bitsy things). A teenage guy will text with all the shortened words, use minimum vowels as possible, and flood his texts with the typical U with a horizontal : on top. A more mature guy will go on with the whole spelling, and if you're lucky enough, will go on with the whole punctuation marks too, and if a smile really triggers, you get :-). And ;-) if he winks. hehe. See? And I don't really get people who constantly add 'h' to their words. Call me judgmental, but it all appears cheap to me in a teen-y kind of way. What's the logic behind? I don't give myself wholly to any group because at times it would mean heaven to text the shortened way. Which is, of course, a big relief to my fingers. And at times, it wouldn't even really hurt a single bit to text as if you're an English Prof. I guess it all boils down to moderation.
