Who was I kidding?!

My mom confiscated my Adidas sneakers a day ago because she was pissed (yes, blame me. I thought I was old for such punishments.. but then.). And I've already planned to head to the gym after our researchwork in UST awhile ago. So I'm left with two options: (1) use my old and worn-out gym sneakers or (2) beg for mom to wave her hand and show me where the treasure lies. Initially, I went for the latter.

*Seriously, this was sooooo similar to the times I was being 'sermoned' when I was 8 or 9 years old.

What should have been a serious-pleading-nakakaawa-face turned out to be a laughing-epic-look, with matching tears of what - humor. I was laughing the whole time which made mom's serious and masungit face brim with laugh lines (yes, it's my special talent. i'm proud.). As much as she was trying to hide the laugh, come on... Hahahaha! In the end, I still didn't get the shoes, of course. And I didn't make it to the gym because we finished late in the afternoon with the research. But then I realized: no matter how new your new shoes are, no matter how prettier and comfier it is.. you'd still want to go home to that old/worn/and beat-up sneaks you've known before. The one that got you through the roughest of times [when you had to run 30 minutes on a treadmill - 4 times a week - after classes. In the gym, that is.]. So, old Avia sneakers - I still love you no matter how many shoes I add to my shoe cabinet.
