WHATI♥NOW: Sheer carefree tops!

No comments:
There's something about "mystery" that instantly gravitates people's curiosity. Dahlings, showing too much skin is a big nono, but showing veeeery little skin at all?!

Browsing over a few local designers got me glued and hooked to Stacy Rodriguez of shopglasnost.com/. Her designs were very wearable (plus not too expensive, to boot!) and sometimes, not for the fainthearted.. but for the fashion forward. Yeah! The sheer fabric of this one here below from her GLASNOST'S PHOSPHORESCENT S/S '11 Collection was a winner for its punchy pink and orange splash which immediately veers attention. Too covered? Wait for it, take a closer look and see for yourself.

Not only Stacy drew me in during my wild hunt for fantastic pieces. In my search to what could be touted as a mysterious fashion look I was directed to Nude Clothing where maxi skirts and wide-leg pants are all over! Not to mention, even sheer tops. It's the perfect thing for school since I do commute and I'm not one to expose legs for all the world to see especially when my classes demand so much for the whole day. It's just not too comfortable, and my school doesn't allow bottoms that fall above the knees. Talk about too much conservatism. The maxi skirts and wide-leg pants might just be the answer to an instant fashion makeover (works so with high heels = high fashion). Standout! It's the next big thing.

love attracts love, and fashion is

No comments:
Contrary to what everyone deems true, fashion is not easy. Well maybe self-expression is (though at times, it really is a pain the a), but to really know it you have to dig deep to what everyone already knows... To what is superficial. You cannot just put pieces together and call it style. Love attracts love, so they say. But we all know loving someone, loving a person, loving a thing, can be very complicated. Or most of the time, absolutely giddy. ;-)

The internet proved to be more than any help it could be. Five days ago started an eternal love with self-expression - at its finest. Who knew it would be so nitty-gritty?! It was tiring, it was stressful, it was a tedious task. BUT all those were history after seeing the outputs and being ON THE SCENE. It was fun - work and play combined! I took styling classes along with 19 amazing girls under SoFA 2010 graduate Fold Canela. Day 1 was lecture. Fold was very accommodating and responded very well to all our questions covering everything there is on how to launch our styling careers. He was also very hands-on as we were given different activities each day to tap into our creative minds, mind you, with time limit. From creating accessories from scrap and unleashing our creative geniuses on how a piece would sell. The first day we were asked to turn a plain scarf into an innovative top that's wearable, then turn it into a bottom, then into a headpiece -- sans any pin! You can only imagine how we survived by merely tucking everything in where it can be tucked. Luckily I was grouped with the best minds so we won the first round. It all ended that all groups had a point which turned out that we were all equally winners (heehee! Although I still question where is the competition there.). The whole week was so fashion-filled. Our final activity was a photoshoot with models from SoFA. I have to tell you, it was so exciting pulling clothes off the rack and mixing everything to achieve a whole new look! Our shoot Safari-themed and you could just hear all the RAWRS. Literally and figuratively. :-) So for you guys who are taking their fashionable senses into a career, check out School of Fashion and the Arts and start it! Right now! Now who told you summer would be so plain?

The cost of being Dacosta: Self-taught illustrator is a fashion favorite

No comments:
Recent favorite illustrator Nuno DaCosta unveils his magnum opus through the spreads of avant-garde high-fashion magazines Vogue Italia and Vogue US. Self-taught artist DaCosta is a London-born illustrator who specializes in fashion and beauty editorial sketches. Many are amazed drawn to the features of his figures which show exaggeration with the lines curving perfectly to where they should best. There is no wonder that his sketches immediately land the pages of the world’s top magazines, also winning collaborations with topnotch brands and fashion designers. Very cosmopolitan and nonchalantly polished are DaCosta’s bullets in his works which capture the very essence of the modern woman and makes it a superb hit among its viewers.

OMG

Oh. My. Gown.

The annual ExcelLance Awards Night brought by Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Institute of Communication is up in three sleeps. After worrying about which corporate attire to wear (I've luckily solved that earlier. And it went "pretty" well, mind you.), the next thing I know I'm stressing about which gown to wear in a few days. Designers don't make magic in two days and a half, neither do their sewers. Tomorrow I'll try to fit in rummaging the malls for a good dress, or hunt for a designer/tailor who actually does magic.

Balenciaga
The unpredictability of its shape is just amazing. The color blocks of white and black add to its dramatic flair.
Chanel
Sheer sexiness is displayed as see-through material still shows the skin, in regular doses. Sexay!

ZOE YOU WANNA. My current icon.

TOWERING. It hurts to know I'll never have longer legs. "Yes you will, it just takes time." Tell me it's true.
AND I'VE JUST GIDDILY JUMPED TO SEE THAT THERE'S A 'KEEP CALM, CARRY ON' PLANNER! AND THAT'S FOR NEXT YEAR'S! Say hello, amazon.com. www.peterpauper.com

Passionista

No comments:
I've been very much exploring my options in the fashion industry lately. Yes, from shifting courses or possibly joint-taking with my current course next year. From fashion journalism, fashion styling, to bigger (yes, I mean BIGGER) things such as internships and working for Vogue or Rachelle Zoe. Dream on. In a few weeks, my plan of handling a small-scale fashion retail business will take effect. Let's both cross our fingers for that. And as you know how OC I am when it comes to planning - I've actually mapped out how my 2011 shall go! :D In the meantime, I want to see this bible on my shelf:

Bought my little brother a Terranova collared shirt a month ago. Then I saw Zac Efron wearing quite the same thing on random web photos. I think they both looked cute :)

My school required us to wear corporate attire on Wednesdays starting last 14th. And by "corporate" they stressed on blazers and a minimum of 2-inched heels. Um, Admin, do these pass? :-P And must I say, I'm going gaga over the cut of this dress from LV's Fall/Winter 2010 Collection: (I've seen this on PDI's Friday Fashion section MONTHS ago, and I sucked for not cutting it out. But well, there must be a reason why I'm finding it within my fingertips now. Ha! Ha! Ha!)

..And lastly, on how Ria Prieto can glamorously rock white:
