"Oh, Robinhood!", "Hey, where's Batman?", words that greet me everytime - when I was younger. Not now, thank God. They've realized that I am growing. LOL. So it would be either my name would be misspelled: Robin, Robine, Robbeen, Rovin, and the most alienated spelling I ever encountered of my name, Robbeein. It was written right there on a certificate. But thankfully, they changed it. As if I never had enough, on rare occassions it would even be pronounced as Ra-bin or Row-bin. Heck. Is my name cursed or something?
Alyssa. On my 4th Grade, there were 5 of us named Alyssa in our class. So I guess that it was one factor which made people turn back to 'Robbin'. 'Coz it was unique. Yes, oh how I wish it was even equally good to hear for a lady's name. The correct pronunciation is Ah-lay-sa. Not Ah-li-sa nor A-liza. See, I told you. My name's cursed. WELL, I REALLY HOPE NOT.
Just when people started calling me Robbin, I had the idea that I wanted to be called Alyssa. I mean, it's perfect. But there are also a lot of Alyssas in m
y former school. So I'll just be crossing my fingers from now on. In case you don't know, much more as if you would even want to be aware, my name 'Alyssa' was from a lotion. The body lotion which I continue to use since I knew my name originated from it: MUSK by Alyssa Ashley. Really, the lotion's so popular then! My mom could attest to that! And it smells so gooood. Available at VMV Hypoallergenics, about Php 600 or 700 not sure. And then of course, you'd ask where then is 'Robbin' from? Mom said that guy's names given to girls is a trend back then. I don't know if I'll blame mom for following such trends. But I'm still thankful that I'm not given some hideous name. Really tons thankful for that. I can still say I'm blessed with the best name. Not to mention, my surname. Fellow Multiply users know of that! LOL.Totally embracing my surname till it suffocates. :)
And yes yes.. I shall be called Alyssa.
Or Robbin. Whatever between the two. My *crushn_______ would also suffice. :p
*OH, i just don't want everyone to know so much about me. RE: anyone/evryone can view my blog, anonymously.

I on the other hand always wished that I was given only 1 name.
But since the most of the latter generation is always given two to three names, I can not say anything more.
Your name is better, because it came from a deliciously smelling lotion, I-was-named-from a chipmunk (LOL)--from Chip and Dale's lady chipmunk to be exact.
And that Mary from the mother Mary, and then my name has shown a lot of its definitions: Mary Clarice -tagalog-Maria CLara (ohmigad) and every Claras and Marias that you can think of.
I wish I was named Clarice Ann instead--sounds like that of a Brit queen and more 5th grader than my 4th grader toned "Mary Clarice." (LOL)
So yours actually is better. In fact is is unique. Just give those who search for batman after knowing your name a lesson to learn. =D
You know how movies get us so caught up. :) When I was really really young, I so loved The Power Rangers, especially the Pink Ranger, which is named Kimberly. So then my folks bought me a pyjama costume of the Pink Ranger.. and just because I just couldn't get enough of her, I also wished to be called Kimberly. So then I was always called Kimberly 'cause I strongly imposed that! God. You see how i am as a kid. Then as I grew older, through countless books and flicks and every inspiration I could possibly have, I have come up with a name that I wished I have: Samantha Elizabeth. lol.
Your name initials are great! Come on. at least it's catchy! MCMG! Talk about mine: RATN. Which, when read: rotten. come on, am i seriously cursed?????????lol
No no. Mary Clarice is divine. So womanly. Unlike mine, a clash between manly and sorta womanly. Bleh.
Anyway, i thought.. for years, i have not been addressed any nickname. T'was always Robbin, and Robbin. (Excuse my mom, she calls me Alyssa when she gets mad at me. hehe). So I'm thinking, since I want to be called (for a BIG change) Alyssa.. and since I so love that it starts with an A.. I was thinking, hhow about Ala. At least, the letters wouldn't be much of a task to write, lol. And that it would only be 2 syllables instead of the overwhelming 3. Whadya think?
..and oh yeah.. along with my surname play, this one's another: Alyssa Almighty. but then i think that would be too bad. hehe. and unbelievable so.
