An Open Letter to the Security Guards of Malabon Citisquare:

Classes were dismissed awhile ago in school at 11:50am. My brother, Richard, and I went to National Bookstore to buy some supplies and my bro's book that's needed for his book report. Students are allowed to enter the mall before 4:00pm -- but only in National Bookstore. But in our case awhile ago, the doors of NBS is still closed so we had to enter the main door of the mall which is near the NBS just to get in. Upon the entrance of the door, the security guard asked both of us what year level are we in. So I replied that I'm in my senior high and my brother's in his sophomore. I quickly told him that we were dismissed early due to the typhoon and floods, and that we will only go to National Bookstore to buy specific needs for school. As if we will do something wrong, he told us that one of us had to stay outside while the other will go to NBS. I was the one who went inside while Richard stayed outside. He was even telling me to leave my bag with Richard, but I refused because it would be hard for Rych to bring his heavy bag along with mine. So I told the guard that I'll be leaving my bag in NBS instead. So with his allegations and my face who looks more like going to war -- I got in, myself. I seriously spoke in full english in situations like this, I don't know.. people respect you more when you do. I'm still in my school uniform so it's just mandatory to project a good image. Thankfully, I could still hold back the tiger that wants to call their head or their boss and tell him this baloney situation. If this situation got worse, I could be talking to their boss already. I am not scared because I know that I'm in the right place. Oh come on. You are all just very authoritative because of your position and that you know that we are just students. But I am the difference between students who don't talk and students who do. Remember that.

TO THE SECURITY GUARDS OF MALABON CITISQUARE:

Good day.

I am the student whom you dared to not let in inside the mall when I said that my brother and I would only go to the National Bookstore for school needs. The mall rule is that we cannot get inside the mall, but only allowed to enter the National Bookstore, through the NBS's door which is located outside. But how could we get in when it's closed? We already told you that we are only getting in the main entrance, and head straight to NBS -- nothing else. You could even look at us going there just so to make sure that we won't head anywhere, can't you? And of course, would we have the guts to go around the mall when we know that we aren't allowed to? And would we even do that knowing that you know very well what school we go to considering the uniforms we wear? Of course, we wouldn't want to break the rules.

Please don't talk to us as if we are doing, or will be doing something against your will and the rules that has been set for us. If I was the kind of student who wouldn't reason out, I'm pretty sure you could've embarassed me in front of all the people in the mall. If I was the kind of student who wouldn't dare to talk, I'm sure that I wouldn't get in and neglect the school stuffs I need for school the following day. BUT SORRY, I am not of such kind.

I was wondering, how many students who were afraid to reason out, that went to school the following day and had their teachers sent them out of the room just because they didn't get the chance to buy their requirements from a bookstore? Think of it. There are a lot of options which you never dare to even do.

Even if you know that the Malabon Citisquare is just a small mall where at most, only people who are in the middle classes and even the low classes are in, please know where you stand and still be mellow and attend to their needs instead of immediatelty disregarding them. Know what they want, hear them first before you lay your rules. What if I told you that my uncle's the City Mayor? Or even, my uncle's the one who owns this mall. I doubt that you would treat me that way. NEVER GO TO ARGUE, because in the first place, we were never there to argue. What use would it be? What a waste of time it is.

The next time that this situation happens, I swear, you'll have to present me your boss.

i personally hate security guards (or at least the ones who are as bossy as the one in this post). i hate these hollow egomaniacs in uniforms as much as i hate math teachers, but that's another story. not that i'm stereotyping, but most of them really are like this. and i tell you, they're everywhere. they seem to follow me wherever i go.

i second the motion.

you know how very authoritative they get when they know that you're just a student! god. i'm thankful that he's the first i encountered. at least i know what to do the next time. just a straigh face and a super taray aura is all that you need.

good luck with those guards haunting you. i just seriously wish they'd be more kind to people. :)
